The MontiPower Pneumatic Bristle Blaster is a hand-held, air-powered surface preparation tool that simultaneously removes corrosion and generates an anchor profile. It exists to give coatings work a clean, correctly profiled substrate without the logistics of conventional grit blasting, which is what allows a new coating to adhere and last. The bristle tips strike the corroded surface with kinetic energy equivalent to standard grit blast media, then rebound, producing both corrosion removal and a micro-indentation that exposes fresh metal, so the finished surface mimics the texture and visual cleanliness of traditional grit blasting.
The MontiPower Pneumatic Bristle Blaster removes corrosion, coatings, mill scale and other contaminants without removing healthy material, and generates anchor profiles ranging from 40 to 80 micrometres, including on weld seams, edges, around bolts and on surface irregularities. The Montipower Pneumatic Bristle Blaster restores corroded and pitted surfaces to a near-white or white metal appearance with no grinding or polishing, and generates compressive residual stress in the surface for crack growth resistance, improved life and improved corrosion resistance. Long-lasting bristle blaster belts mean the MontiPower Pneumatic Bristle Blaster cleans and profiles economically, removing the need for costly abrasive blast equipment. The tool is ATEX-approved and includes dust control.
The MontiPower Pneumatic Bristle Blaster measures 350mm long, 160mm high including the handle and 70mm wide, with a 110mm outer belt diameter, and weighs 1.1kg. The Montipower Pneumatic Bristle Blaster requires a flow pressure of 6.2 bar with average air consumption of 17.5 cfm (0.5 cubic metres per minute), runs at an idle speed of 3,500 rpm and takes an Rp 1/4 inch air inlet with a 9.5mm (3/8 inch) interior hose. Vibration is 2 m/sec2 and sound pressure is 83 dB(A). Used in corrosion control across marine, offshore and industrial maintenance, and supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.

When to use the Pneumatic Bristle Blaster
Use the Pneumatic Bristle Blaster on steel where compressed air is available and you need to remove corrosion and lay an anchor profile in one step. It restores corroded and pitted surfaces toward a near-white or white metal appearance, and its ATEX approval with dust control suits work in hazardous areas.
- 1ATEX approved with dust controlATEX approval and integrated dust control let you prepare surfaces in classified or hazardous areas where a standard tool would not be permitted.
- 2Profiles 40 to 80 micronIt generates anchor profiles of 40 to 80 micron on weld seams, edges, around bolts and on surface irregularities, hitting the bond requirement where corrosion takes hold.
- 3Work hardens the surfaceThe process generates compressive residual stress for crack growth resistance, improved life and improved corrosion resistance, so preparation also strengthens the steel.
